Nylon Coil Zippers in Workshop Production
Nylon coil construction can be adapted to several zipper formats. The same chain family may be used as a short closed-end trouser zipper, an open-end jacket zipper or continuous chain for bags and cases.
Manufacturing approval should consider the chain profile, tape, slider, end system, seam construction and repeated opening performance.

Spiral Coil Construction
A continuous spiral element forms the working chain on a nylon coil zipper. Smooth operation depends on accurate alignment between both coil sides and the channel geometry inside the slider.

Standard Coil Zippers
Standard coil zippers display the spiral chain on the face of the zipper. They can be used for pockets, bags, jackets, cushions and general textile closures.
Reverse-Coil Zippers
Reverse-coil construction turns the spiral toward the reverse face and can create a cleaner visible tape line. It may suit sportswear, technical apparel and modern bag designs.
Reverse coil does not identify the end type or slider count. Closed-end, separating and two-way properties must be specified separately.
Invisible Coil Zippers
Invisible zippers also use coil construction, but the coil is folded behind the tape so that it can remain concealed inside a garment seam.
Metallic-Look Coil Finish
A metallic finish can be applied to the visible surface of a nylon coil. The zipper may resemble metal while retaining a nylon spiral chain.
Metallic-looking coil must not be described as genuine metal teeth.
Open-End Production Checks
On an open-end coil zipper, the insertion pin must enter the retainer box fully and both tape halves must remain level before the slider is raised.
Open-end or separating describes complete tape separation. It does not automatically describe a two-slider or lower-opening zipper.
Coated Coil Zippers
TPU- and PU-coated coil zippers may be used in technical garments, outdoor bags and equipment cases where reduced surface-water entry is desired.
Do not claim that a coated zipper makes the finished product completely waterproof without testing the complete construction.

- Does the functional length match the pattern?
- Does the chain profile create unnecessary bulk?
- Does the slider run without excessive force?
- Does the chain reopen behind the slider?
- Does the insertion pin enter the retainer box correctly?
- Does reverse-coil tape suit the design?
- Does the metallic or coated finish remain stable through sewing?
Common Manufacturing Errors
- Do not match chains and sliders from the nominal number alone.
- Do not describe reverse coil and invisible zippers as identical.
- Do not describe every separating zipper as two-way.
- Do not describe metallic-looking coil as genuine metal.
- Do not claim full waterproof performance without testing.
- Do not approve long open-end zippers without a garment sample.
- Do not select replacement products from length alone.
