Molded Plastic Zippers in Manufacturing
Molded plastic zippers are selected when a visible, individually defined tooth profile is required. Their performance depends on tooth geometry, tape construction, slider channel, bottom hardware and the finished-product sewing method.
Despite the Turkish trade name “bone zipper”, the elements are manufactured from plastic resin rather than natural bone.

Plastic Material Description
Product specifications should use clear material descriptions such as:
- Molded plastic teeth
- Injection-moulded plastic elements
- POM plastic teeth — only where confirmed
- Metallic-look molded plastic teeth
Natural bone, genuine metal and molded plastic must not be listed as the same material.
Closed-End, Open-End and Two-Way Functions
A closed-end zipper remains joined at the bottom and may be used for pockets, bags and accessory closures.
An open-end separating zipper allows both tapes to detach through the insertion-pin and box system. It is used for jackets, coats and vests.
A two-way separating zipper has two separate sliders and allows the lower section to open. It must not be confused with an ordinary one-slider separating zipper.
Crocodile-Tooth Molded Zippers
Crocodile-tooth describes a visibly larger or patterned molded tooth. It can be used as a design detail on fashion outerwear, sports jackets, coats and statement accessories.

Metallic-Look Molded Zippers
Metallic-look zippers create the appearance of gold, silver, brass, copper, antique or black metal while retaining a molded plastic tooth structure.
These products should remain within the molded plastic category and should not be filtered as genuine metal zippers.
Ready-Length and Continuous Chain
A ready-length zipper includes the slider and prepared end construction. It can be installed on standard jacket, coat, pocket or bag patterns.
Continuous molded chain is cut during production and still requires compatible sliders and secure end finishing.

Slider Compatibility
Molded-tooth sliders must match the actual tooth height, width and geometry. Turkish Type 5, Type 6 and Type 9 descriptions should not be used as universal compatibility standards without checking the real chain.
